New Ultra-Bright Identafi™ 3000 Ultra Shines More Intense Light on Oral Cancer Detection – Updated Device Features Flawless Nickel-Plated Design
That Improves Durability, Delivers Smoother Hand Feel

HOUSTON, September 3, 2009 — Greater-intensity diodes in Identafi™ 3000 Ultra from Trimira™ ensure more thorough oral screenings by doubling the auto-fluorescent power of the world's first and only "multispectral" oral cancer detection device.

Introduced this week and distributed by authorized dealers nationally, the new Identafi™ 3000 Ultra uses its patented multispectral optics to reveal cancer by identifying biochemical and morphological differences in the cells of the mouth and oropharynx.

    Oral Cancer Stops Here

Trimira Marketing VP Jerry S. Trzeciak said the new Ultra model builds on the strengths of the original Identafi™ 3000. Identafi™ is the only high-powered oral cancer detection device that uses three wavelengths consisting of brilliant white, violet, and green-amber light.

"Oral cancer stops here," Trzeciak said. "Our unique multispectral platform is a true differentiator among all of the oral cancer detection devices on the market because it minimizes false positives while disclosing abnormalities in oral tissue that otherwise would be missed by the naked eye." The device empowers dentists and doctors to pinpoint biochemical and morphological changes in cells, he added.

Trzeciak noted that Identafi™ 3000 Ultra's violet wavelength capability was cited in the May 2009 issue of Cancer Prevention Research, the journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, as the best excitation wavelength to discriminate between neoplastic and non-neoplastic areas.

Identafi™ 3000 Ultra also incorporates a nickel-plated design that both improves durability and delivers a smoother hand feel. Created exclusively for intraoral use, the small cordless Identafi™ 3000 Ultra is ergonomically shaped for dentists, periodontists, hygienists, oral surgeons, otolaryngologists, and primary-care physicians. The handheld is portable and may be moved from room to room and patient to patient.

Identafi™ 3000 Ultra comes with 100 free disposables, multimedia kit, battery charger with batteries, two pairs of optics, and a training DVD developed at a leading university.

Identafi™ 3000 Ultra's high-speed, high-resolution fluorescence and reflectance technology was developed by three premier institutions: The University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University, and British Columbia Cancer Research Centre. "Identafi™ 3000 Ultra represents a quantum leap in the visualization of mucosal abnormalities," Trzeciak said, "including oral cancer or premalignant dysplasia."
